NEON DARK is an electropop duo formed by Brynne Levy(Brooklyn, NY) and Josh Handal(Washington, DC). The collaboration merges avant-garde music production with familiar pop structures and draws influence from their shared appreciation of electronic dance music. The project is set within a dreamlike visual landscape that mirrors their experimental sonic identity.
The duo first met in college in 2011 and bonded over unconventional art, performance, and music. After graduating, they pursued independent careers in circus, nightlife, and visual media while also continuing to work together on cross-disciplinary projects. In 2022, the duo formed NEON DARK with the intent to release their first full-length album, titled Cyclica. Their shared backgrounds in performance art and multidisciplinary creative work continue to inspire their surreal aesthetic and emotionally charged sound.
NEON DARK’s music is characterized by layered electronic production and processed vocals. Their sonic influences include Allie X, Andrew Bayer, BANKS, Björk, Charli xcx, CHVRCHES, deadmau5, Eric Prydz, FKA twigs, Grimes, Hayla, Imogen Heap, Lady Gaga, ONUKA, Rezz, So Below, SOHN, SOPHIE, Tove Lo, and Vaults, among others.
